Mt Olivet Hospital Brisbane has commenced work on a major upgrade and extension to its facilities to create a general medical hospital of excellence specialising in the area of general medicine, gerontology, palliative care, rehabilitation and other specialised programs focussing on chronic disease management.
The redevelopment of the Hospital will allow for the introduction of new services and for existing services to be strengthened.
On completion of the $35 million first phase, the Hospital will change its name to St Vincent's Hospital Brisbane.
The Hospital's redevelopment is part of a wider master plan currently under review for redevelopment of the whole Kangaroo Point site.
The first phase is forecast for completion by the end of 2008 while the overall stage one Hospital redevelopment is expected to be complete towards the end of 2009.
The wider precinct's redevelopment is expected to be completed within seven years.
MASTER PLAN
The Hospital's upgrade is part of a wider master plan currently in the concept stage to redevelop the whole Kangaroo Point site. Estimated at $140 million the sites redevelopment is expected to comprise aged care, retirement living, retail facilities and general medical services including GP practice, pathology, radiology and a multi-story car park.
